We need to push forward: more accountability (dual curriculum)
The Band Program always has 2 goals in mind, develop the individual musician, and develop the entire ensemble. In order to keep this going and improve the over all ensemble, every musician must step up.  At home practice is the perfect time to develop your skills.  Not sure what you can do to improve? Ask Mr. B

Auxiliary-
Every Auxiliary member must have the same required items as the Winds and Battery. Everyone should have their own binder to take home after rehearsals to study and improve their routines. Do not come to rehearsal not knowing your routine. The same expectations for the Winds and Percussion is also for the Auxiliary. We are one unit, not 3. Mrs. Leimbach should have sent you what you owe so make sure to arrive at Uniform Fittings to pay for ALL of your items.
Drill Charts and more are in Charms! Just look in the 2018-19 folder
Drill Charts are in Charms and have 2 versions. The big picture and ZOOM. ZOOM is there so you can get a closer look at the individual spots. What would be very wise is for you to print out the ZOOM for yourself, highlight your dot (your number assignment is in the cast sheet in Charms) and bring your highlighted drill to rehearsal (and keep them in your binder!!!

Marching Band apps!
There are 2 really cool apps you can use with your smartphone, Drillbook Next and 3D viewer by Pyware.  This makes learning drill a lot easier.  You can purchase either one, but they are not mandatory and Mr. B prefers 3D Viewer but either one will work and have been updated.  The QR code in Charms is for 3D Viewer.  If you use Drill Book Next, go ahead and book for Midview Marching Blue’s 2018 pregame and Show 1!   To do so, open the app and click on the top right button.  Scroll down to "Search for Show", type in Midview Marching Blue, scroll all the way to the bottom to find 2018 Pregame and 2018 Show 1. Click on them and there will be a password. The password is the same as the school code for Charms Office.
Band Camp is coming soon!
  • Get up early enough to eat a healthy breakfast and drink water (and have enough time to put on sunscreen and FILL YOUR WATER JUG) (Picture of a water jug)
  • Make sure and wear light loose clothing to try and keep cool in the August heat. Keep in mind that when we are in the stadium, the turf is about 10-20 degrees hotter than grass.
  • Make sure to bring ALL items for Band Camp before you leave the house: Backpack or string bag, black 3-ring binder (with all of your music in it), pencil and highlighter, fanny pack, towel, sunscreen, WATER JUG (not a water bottle)
  • Arrive at 7:45 (we START at 8) and head to either the small gym or the band room. (On Rookie Day, students will report to the Band room first)
  • We begin playing Ultimate Warm-up at 8am.  If you are not, you are tardy and will need to do a make up or you may lose 3rd quarter privileges at the first game.
  • From 8am-9am we will be inside releasing music and learning the handbook and reading the drill
  • 9am-11am we are outside
  • 11am-Noon we are in the small gym reviewing music and drill and getting new music
  • Noon-1pm Battery rehearsal

Practicing
  • This is an at home thing. The goal for you should be to work and being able to play your part accurately, independently, and with confidence.  Saying “I can only play when others are playing” means you have not prepared for this class and the question should be then, will this really earn an “A”?
Rehearsal-learn others parts
  • In Rehearsal, Students should be prepared enough from at home practice to be able to contribute to the entire ensemble. During rehearsal, you are to LISTEN and discover how your part fits with the rest of the piece. We need equal contribution.
