how you can help

How to Volunteer
The Band Boosters need help for the various events scheduled throughout the year. There are lots of opportunities in which you can sign up to help.   There will be sign ups for each event in the calendar.  Below is an overview of the volunteer positions.

Volunteer Positions - Marching Season/Football Games
Concession Stand - The Band Boosters operate the concession stand at all home varsity football games which is a major fundraising activity for our organization. About 15 volunteers are needed for each home game, with the work divided into two main tasks - sales and food prep. The concession stand is fun and fast paced.
  • Sales tasks including taking and filling customer orders at the counter and handling the change.
  • Food prep jobs in the back include making hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, hot and cold drinks, and helping fill orders.

Early Setup - Two volunteers are needed from 3 to 5 pm to start setting up the stand for the game. Tasks include filling popcorn boxes, loading pop bottles in to the coolers, set out candy and other items. This is a great way to get familiar with concessions if you’ve never worked in the stand before. Once you have signed up, the concession stand managers will email you with specific information a couple of days before the game.

Band Barn - The Band Boosters provide refreshments for both bands at the home varsity football games after their Halftime performances. Two volunteers are needed during the third quarter of each home game to help hand out food to the bands from what is affectionately known as the Band Barn at the south end of the grand stands. The Band Barn coordinator is responsible for providing the refreshments and will contact you once you have signed up.

Uniform Inspection - Four volunteers are needed in the Band Room after every game to inspect the uniforms and ensure that they are properly stored for the next performance.

Roadies/Ladder Parents - Three volunteers are needed to move the drum major platforms (ladders) to and from the equipment truck and into position for the Halftime show for every game (you don't have to be a dad).

Chaperones - The Band Directors utilize parent volunteers to accompany the band on the buses for any and all away trips (football games, marching contests, concert and sight-reading contests, etc.). Sign up for a trip or two to see if this is your niche!

Volunteer Positions - Fall Fundraisers
Blitz Day - Volunteers are needed to drive the band members to their assigned neighborhoods for Gold Card sales.

Midview Parade of Bands - Many volunteers are needed for various tasks including selling 50/50 raffle tickets, raffling gift baskets and feeding the bands after they perform. The Marching Blue will close the show, the concession stand will close a few minutes before they take the field so everyone can find a seat and watch them perform.
The Band Boosters
The Midview Band Boosters is the 501C3 volunteer support group for Midview School District's instrumental music programs.  There are no membership fees, as a band parent you are already a member.  Our organization membership is also open to friends of Midview music education such as alumni and alumni parents.

We meet monthly during the school year in the MHS Band Room at 7 pm on the first Thursday of each month.  All are invited to attend! This is a great place to hear what's going on, what's coming up and meet other parents.

We invite you to come and observe. You do not need to volunteer for anything you do not wish to participate in.  However, you might have something to contribute to this program and it will be most welcome!
